The BYU Cougars (0-1) traveling to Knoxville in Week two for a showdown with the Tennessee Volunteers (0-1). Kickoff is set for 7:00 PM EST on Saturday, September 7th in Neyland Stadium and the game will be televised on ESPN.
Tennessee opened as a 3-point home favorite this past week. As the Vols are listed in -3, that point has to move at all after early gambling. The total for your game is sitting at 51 points.
BYU could not find a way to emerge victorious from the”Holy War” from Utah at Week 1 despite trailing by only a field goal at halftime. The Utes came out scoring 3 unanswered touchdowns, that the second half to put the game .
BYU QB Zach Wilson couldn’t locate any consistency against a Utah defense, becoming chosen twice and throwing for only 208 yards — one had been returned for a touchdown.
RB Ty’Son Williams established BYU on the ground with a bit of a spark , rushing for 45 yards and a touchdown. Matt Bushman gave a solid attempt, catching 6 balls for 62 yards. BYU offense managed to score just 12 points and could not sustain any offense.
BYU did a wonderful job defensively holding the crime. They started to provide a little farther down the stretch, as Utes RB Zach Moss put on a display en route to some huge 187 yard, one touchdown performance.
Tennessee also fell to 0-1 on the year last weekend, despite being favored by 26 points, dropping a shocker into Georgia State.
The Vols jumped out to an early lead at the first quarter because the Panthers rallied to regain the lead prior to shutting out the win heading into the 4th quarter, but it was all downhill and then.
Tennessee QB Jarrett Guarantano had a decent match, heading 26/40 to get 311 yards and two touchdowns throwing to only one interception.
He had a whole lot of help. Tennessee offense certainly looked good aside from three turnovers, racking up nearly 400 total yards and scoring three touchdowns.
Georgia State managed to pull off such a large upset in Week 1 due to the Volunteers play on defense. Tennessee grew up 350 yards, which while apparently not appearing to be significant, still led to five Panthers touchdowns.
Tennessee could not establish themselves. Georgia State had three Georgia State rushers to find the end zone.
I really don’t have a whole lot of confidence in both of those apps. I think that the Vols reduction against Georgia State was an exception and not the rule.
I feel that was not an indictment of the Vols talent and a shocking lack of preparation. Having said that Tennessee is the better team, playing in Neyland Stadium at prime time.
